Satisfacción laboral en policías ecuatorianos durante la pandemia del COVID 19

Resumen

La satisfacción laboral juega un papel fundamental en el ámbito policial, especialmente durante la pandemia de COVID-19, debido a su impacto directo en el mantenimiento del orden público. Una baja satisfacción puede llevar a una falta de compromiso organizacional, un bajo desempeño laboral y un incremento del ausentismo. Este estudio buscó evaluar la satisfacción laboral en la policía y examinar cómo se ve afectada por factores socio-demográficos y características del entorno de trabajo. Al examinar los resultados de una encuesta llevada a cabo a 3735 policías de diversas ciudades del Ecuador, revela que la mayoría de los agentes mostraron una satisfacción laboral promedio, lo que indica una adaptación a las condiciones desafiantes impuestas por la pandemia.  Tanto hombres como mujeres reportaron una menor satisfacción relacionada con las condiciones laborales y la percepción de la tarea. Aunque no se observaron diferencias significativas por género en las escalas de satisfacción laboral, las mujeres mostraron niveles ligeramente más altos. Asimismo, se observó una tendencia decreciente en la satisfacción laboral con el paso de los años de servicio, sugiriendo que los agentes más antiguos y experimentados experimentan  una satisfacción laboral menor, aunque reportaron estar más satisfechos con los beneficios económicos. A pesar del mayor estrés operacional, los agentes en funciones operativas mostraron mayor satisfacción, posiblemente debido al reconocimiento institucional y social durante la pandemia. Estos hallazgos resaltan la relevancia de atender tanto las condiciones laborales como los aspectos sociales y emocionales para asegurar un ambiente de trabajo satisfactorio para  los miembros de la fuerza policial.
